Bishop’s Counseling for Women
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and therapist. I graduated from University of Arkansas with a degree in psychology before pursuing my masters in social work at University of Texas at Arlington. In addition, I am also a Certified Faith Based Therapist and a Certified Christian Therapist, which allows me to support those who value their faith as a part of their healing process. I am the owner of Bishop’s Counseling for Women, PLLC which was established in 2015.
The core values of my therapeutic approach are found in exploration and connection, vulnerability and self awareness, accountability and empowerment, intentionality and honesty. I pride myself on exercising therapy as an art form in which I actively engage and motivate clients instead of sitting on the side lines. While I am passionate about full contact therapy with my clients, I started writing to provide an opportunity for all women to have access to my step by step therapeutic approach to healing.
I am a trauma survivor, recovering perfectionist, highly sensitive person and a lifelong learner, who has made it my life’s work to make meaning out of suffering. My own personal journey of healing and becoming allows me to guide others in an open-minded and compassion filled way. I am passionate about giving others the opportunity to know and share who they are while pursuing meaningful change in their own life.

Individual Counseling
Individual counseling allows you to work through a wide array of issues that are important to you . I strive to refocus the therapeutic process back to the issues women struggle with on a daily basis. Issues such as comparison, perfectionism, vulnerability and shame. In our culture today, more and more is expected of a woman. Women are relational beings and they see themselves in the context of their relationships. Not only do women play several different roles, but society has placed an expectation of perfection in each role you pursue. I wish to provide a safe place for you to discuss the areas of your life you wish to work on.

Relationship Counseling
Relationship counseling allows you the opportunity to seek counseling with your significant other, to address issues that may require more than individual counseling can accomplish. It is no secret that relationships are complicated, but it takes two to affect real change in your relationship. This is why I recommend you work with your significant other, in a safe place, to focus on conflict resolution, restoring trust, vulnerability, communication issues, family of origin work, healing from infidelity and financial strain. I also offer premarital counseling for those who want to work on the above before they enter into marriage.

"Adulting" Counseling
“Adulting” is a new term that is being used with fervor by women in their 20’s and early 30’s. I am passionate about helping women in this stage gain clarity on their individualized passions and goals, so that they are not swept up in the expectations of others, but rather on fire for their own gifts and purpose. I have found that this focus leads to the most grounded form of “Adulting” you can find. I largely focus on personality assessment (enneagram work), relationships, family of origin, boundaries, assertive communication, finances and budgeting, assertive communication, motivation and goal work, passion finding, job concerns, and spirituality.
-
Boundary Work
I wrote the book on boundaries. Literally. In Boundaries Are A Woman's Best Friend. I teach you to pursue a self knowing that allows you to set boundaries with confidence instead of guilt. This therapeutic service focuses on self exploration, spiritual seeking, ego state work, healthy relationships and good communication. Boundary work is included in all therapeutic services, but if you know this is what you need the most help with, it is a great service to start with.

Ego State Counseling
The intention of ego state counseling is to help you better understand the parts of self that exist inside of you and how to take care of each part. This practice is born from gestalt therapy which aims to help you reconnect your fragmented and pain filled parts of self. This is an incredibly impactful therapy and has changed my life and the lives of many clients. It lowers anxiety and depression, helps with security and safety, and supports boundary setting and clear communication.

Faith Based Therapy
I am a Certified Christian Therapist and a Certified Faith Based Therapist. I counsel all faith backgrounds. This is because what we believe has a significant impact on our thought processes and the stories we tell ourselves. What we believe defines our identity and our choices. Taking the time in therapy to explore what you believe and why can greatly support your healing journey. What we are living for and prioritizing in our lives changes our health and wellness, and it all starts with what you believe.
Client Reviews
“I've been a client of Jenna's for the past several years and cannot recommend her enough! As someone who had reservations and anxiety about the counseling process, Jenna's warm and upbeat disposition immediately made me feel at home, even in our initial session years ago. Her amazing ability to listen helped me gain back confidence that was once lost, find my voice and rediscover my self worth. She has been by my side while I navigate relationships, marriage, career changes and even welcoming a new baby. She's warm, caring and truly one of a kind.”

“Jenna is a fabulous counselor! I've been with her for over three years and I have loved every session with her! She is empathetic, wise, and caring. Just by talking to her you can tell she has a passion for what she does and truly cares about each of her clients. She customizes each session to what you need during that particular season of your life so you get the most out of your time together. Jenna also recommends great resources (like books, journals, and podcasts) to access outside of therapy sessions to further your personal growth. Jenna has been such a blessing over these past three years. “

I have had many, many counselors in my life and I never felt like I would get anywhere. I have been seeing Jenna for the last 4 years and she has helped me grow a deeper understanding and connection with myself that has helped me grow so, so much. Jenna listens, challenges you, and helps you understand yourself for better or for worse (always for better hehe). She has been with me through many seasons in life that would have gone such a different way had I not had her on my journey. Everyone needs a Jenna!

“Jenna is an unbelievable Therapist and has been an incredible support and resource for me throughout my mental health journey. Jenna listens with intention, customizes sessions to long- and short-term goals and provides actual tools and resources that support prolonged behavior modification. I have always loved the idea of therapy but did not actually enjoy the process or find it helpful until I connected with Jenna. Her open-minded and caring approach made me feel seen and supported in ways that cannot be expressed in a review, BUT if I could give her 10 stars I would. We were able to dig deep on things in the past without dwelling and it has given me a new perspective and paradigm for how to understand my own motivations and how to best interact with myself and other.”

“I truly cannot recommend a better counselor than Jenna. I have been a client of hers for a few years now, and my life is forever changed for the better. She has walked along side me through some of the toughest years of my adult life, and met me with constant grace, compassion, patients, and authenticity. Though our work together, Jenna has made me feel safe, comfortable, and supported discussing any and everything. Don't get me wrong, "doing the work" in therapy is tough, but Jenna makes the process feel a little less scary and a lot worth it. As a counselor, Jenna goes above and beyond time after time to meet me where I'm at, and I know I would not be the whole woman I am today without her guidance. If you are looking for someone to start your therapy journey with, look no further. Jenna is your girl!!!”

“Jenna! Ahhh I can't imagine the parallel universe the other me would be experiencing had I not started talking and working with Jenna. She is an incredible person and resource in life. At 40 years old, late diagnosed with ADHD and triggered by childhood trauma (that I wasn't aware I had) , she has guided me from a tangle of confusion, perfectionism, anxiety...you name it, I felt /feel it. Simply put, Jenna is special. She is absolutely the best listener and the most professional communicator I've ever known ....there is not a wasted word, or thought in this process. There is not a time I don't feel seen, or cared for. There is not a time I feel judged. There is only excitement as I learn more from her. The times that I'm not sure where to start or what to say, she directs. She is a leader of the soul and of healing, and I am forever grateful to her unique abilities.”

“I've been working with Jenna for about 5 years. She is such a compassionate counselor who truly takes the time to get to know you inside and out. She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and has helped me find ME. I haven't always had the strongest faith, but she is helping me incorporate that into my daily life without pushing it down my throat. I have needed that more than I knew I did. I am learning how to be a better mother, wife, and friend with Jenna and she always makes sure I am staying true to myself. I can't imagine going through life's difficult transitions without her help and guidance. I am forever grateful for Jenna.”
